Reflections: "Accepting Imperfection"

Picture

What is Reflections
The Reflections Program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works for the theme of "Accepting Imperfection".

Why Reflections?
Reflections is so much more than "just an art contest."  It helps kids take risks, be inspired, think creatively, receive positive recognition, and be celebrated for their works of art.  It also allows our community to celebrate creativity in our students! Studies have shown there is a relationship between the arts and health and well-being across one’s lifespan.  Thank you for encouraging art by doing Reflections at your PTA!

What do you need to know as a Local PTA for Reflections?
Council is here to help you make it easy!  Ask questions.  Join the Northshore Council PTSA: Local PTA Leaders Hub Facebook group & sign up for the "almost weekly" communications.
  • Be sure to register your program with National PTA!
  • Each PTA can turn in 20 pieces and up to 6 Accessible Arts Pieces.
  • Turn in art pieces to Council by <DATES TO BE DETERMINED>.
    • Council & WSPTA will only accept online submissions for 2024-25. Each Local PTA President and Reflections Chair will be emailed a specific link and instructions for online submission to Council.
      • Try to submit high quality scans or digital photos as all artworks will be judged digitally at Council and State levels.
      • When uploading to Council, please use the following file name format so we can attribute the artwork to the correct student: Student First Name and Last Name - Arts Category - Form or Artwork. Note: There should be two submissions for each student, the entry form and the artwork.
    • Council is requesting each Reflections chair to accept actual visual art, 3D art, Photography, and literature entry. They must hold on to the entries after submitting online until asked for by Council for Reflections celebration.
    • Set a due date that allows time to judge the submitted pieces in order to determine which 20 (+6 Accessible Arts pieces) you will advance to Council.
  • Council Celebration for all Council qualifiers will be in January 2025. Exact date, time, and location are TBD. Please check back for additional information on how we plan to celebrate Northshore artists.

Where can I find Reflections promotional materials?
National PTA and WSPTA have links to many promotional materials that can be used to promote your Reflections program. You can find them on the National PTA Reflections Start Your Program page or the WSPTA Reflections PTA Leaders page.
