Social & Health Services

Hopelink
Since 1971 Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, individuals, children, seniors and people with disabilities. Hopelink services include food, shelter, homelessness prevention, family development, transportation, and adult literacy. Hopelink’s mission is to promote self-sufficiency for all members of our community.

North Urban Human Service Alliance (NUHSA)
A partnership of City, County and State staff, non-profit human service providers, United Way, school districts, faith communities and concerned citizens. NUHSA’s mission is to build the community's capacity to respond to human service needs in North King County, encompassing the Cities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell and Woodinville.

Youth Services & Support

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound
“By matching children with adult mentors in one-to-one relationships, we transform the life of a child (a Little), transform the life of an adult (a Big) and together transform our schools, our neighborhoods and our communities for the better.”

Cocoon House & Genesis Project
Cocoon House (Everett) and the Genesis Project (Seattle) are organizations that are helping kids who are either already 'on the streets' or at high risk of ending up there.  A few years ago, Marysville PTA Council and the Snohomish Soroptimists co-sponsored an awareness event to inform and education the community about sex trafficking which featured presentations from both of these organizations.

Friends of Youth Safe Place
When teens find themselves in crisis or need a safe place to stay, they should know how and where to get help.   Thanks to Safe Place  (a Friends of Youth outreach program), immediate access to help and safety for youth ages 11-17 is never far away.   There are many Safe Place sites throughout King County, including all King Country Metro buses, the King County Library System, several local businesses, churches, and human services agencies.

Northshore YMCA
Offers programs and classes for youth that span a range of activities, including their Youth & Government program, leadership, health, drama, cooking, and more.  They also support a number of social service programs such as Summer Meals for kids.

Other

King County Library System (KCLS)
King County Libraries offer a variety of community services: story times; ESL classes; computer classes; Homework help; Teen Study Zone; job and career information, and much more. In 2017, Canyon Creek PTA hosted a parent education with a KCLS librarian who shared tips about accessing library resources, online safety, and more.

Safe Surfin' Foundation
This organization is a non-profit Cyber Safety and Responsibility educational initiative which works to inform, educate, equip and empower kids, parents, and communities about safe and responsible use of technology. A few of our Northshore PTA/PTSAs have hosted Safe Surfin' digital safety presentations in recent years.
