At the Northshore Council PTSA Spring Recognition Celebration on June 3, 2026, we had the privilege of honoring several exceptional individuals whose dedication, service, and leadership have made a meaningful impact on our schools, community, and the lives of children both within our district and beyond. We are pleased to recognize the recipients of this year's Northshore Council PTSA Recognition Awards. Congratulations to all of our award winners, and thank you for your outstanding contributions!  Outstanding Student Advocate - Rishi Khante The Outstanding Student Advocate Award recognizes a student whose leadership, service, and commitment to making a difference have had a meaningful impact on their school and community. This year’s recipient, Rishi Khante, has demonstrated exceptional leadership through his work on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board, his service with Northshore Interact, and his founding of Access4All, an environmental education nonprofit. Whether advocating for students, leading community initiatives, mentoring younger students, or moderating discussions with elected officials, Rishi consistently leads with integrity, humility, and a genuine commitment to uplifting others.  Honorary Life Membership - Laura Templeton The Honorary Life Membership Award recognizes an individual whose exceptional leadership, dedication, and service have made a lasting impact on our PTA community. This year’s recipient, Laura Templeton, provided outstanding leadership for the National PTA Reflections program, coordinating volunteers, supporting local PTA leaders and families, and ensuring a positive experience for students across the district. Known for being reliable, kind, and impactful, she has consistently gone above and beyond in service to students, families, and Northshore Council PTSA. 
 Outstanding Educator - Janet Willett The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes educators who go above and beyond to create meaningful, engaging, and supportive learning experiences for their students. This year’s recipient, Mrs. Janet Willett, has a remarkable ability to connect with each child as an individual, tailoring her teaching to their unique interests, strengths, and needs. Through her warmth, creativity, and genuine care for every student, she has created a classroom where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Her dedication to students and partnership with families make her a truly deserving recipient of the Northshore Council PTSA Outstanding Educator Award.  Outstanding Advocate - Anna Jensen Anna Jensen is being recognized with the Northshore Council PTSA Outstanding Advocate Award for her tireless dedication to supporting children, especially in the area of special education. Through leadership roles in multiple PTAs, advocacy at school board meetings and district discussions, and her work helping establish the Northshore Special Education Community PTSA, she has consistently worked to ensure families and students have a voice. Known for her quiet determination and commitment to doing what is right rather than seeking recognition, Anna has made a lasting impact on the Northshore community and the lives of countless children and families.  Outstanding Education - Cyndi Wylie The 2026 Outstanding Educator Award honors Cyndi Wylie for her exceptional dedication to students, families, and colleagues at Wellington Elementary. A trusted mentor, advocate, and leader, she creates a joyful and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported. Through her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to education, she has made a lasting impact on her school community and exemplifies excellence in teaching.  Outsanding Service - Grace Jurado The Washington State PTA Outstanding Service Award is the highest volunteer honor a Council can bestow, recognizing exceptional service that impacts children and families far beyond a single school or community. For more than a decade, Grace Jurado has served in leadership roles at the local, council, regional, and state levels, providing steady guidance, thoughtful leadership, and unwavering support wherever she was needed. Her dedication, wisdom, and commitment to PTA have strengthened our organization at every level, and we are honored to present this award in recognition of her extraordinary service.  Golden Acorn - Carly Chang The Golden Acorn Award recognizes volunteers who demonstrate exceptional dedication and service to children and youth. This year’s recipient, Carly Chang, stepped forward to support Northshore Council PTSA with enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn new skills, helping strengthen our communications efforts and keep our community informed and connected. Beyond her work at Council, Carly has been a dedicated volunteer and art docent at Shelton View Elementary, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. Her positivity, energy, and commitment to service make her a deserving recipient of this year’s Golden Acorn Award.
 We were honored to have Dr. Justin Irish join us for the Spring Recognition event. Thank you for taking the time to celebrate the educators, volunteers, and community members who help make Northshore such a special place to learn and grow.  We are currently looking for volunteers to help fill several open Council PTSA positions and committee roles for the 2026–2027 school year. Whether you're interested in emergency preparedness, inclusion, outreach, membership, or reflections, we'd love to have you join us. These roles are a great way to connect with our community and make a meaningful impact for students and families. 
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to this year's Awards Committee members, Diana Christiansen, Manognya Murukulta, and Brenae Brix, for their time and effort in making this year's recognition program possible. Thank you as well to Graze Craze Woodinville for the wonderful food and to Innovation Lab High School for hosting our event.
