Parent Ed RSVP: AI, Apps, and Algorithms
Tuesday, March 17, 2026
7–8 PM
Moorlands Elementary Gym or join remotely

Digital media is part of every child’s world now. Social platforms, apps, and AI-powered learning tools can bring real benefits, but they also introduce new risks. This session will help parents understand both sides and feel more confident guiding their kids online.

We’re excited to welcome Katie Davis, author of Technology’s Child, who will walk through how digital media shapes children’s development from early childhood through adolescence. She’ll cover:

• What kids are really doing online
• How AI and social media influence learning and well-being
• Practical strategies to create safe, healthy, age-appropriate digital habits at home

Parents will leave with clear, usable tools to help kids navigate technology safely and thoughtfully.

Apply for WSPTA Awards of Excellence and Membership Awards

2/11/2026

The Washington State PTA (WSPTA) has an award and recognition program whose purpose is to build pride, participation in, and awareness of WSPTA as well as celebrate the work PTAs do to make a difference in their communities. These awards give recognition for outstanding efforts and motivate local PTAs and councils to provide quality service for and involvement of their members.

Applying for these awards helps local PTAs and councils benchmark their efforts and become resources for other local PTAs and councils. Awards and programs also help build awareness of the WSPTA mission and focus. When local PTAs and councils are recognized for the work they are doing, it builds pride in the community and helps people connect with the PTA.

The WSPTA Awards of Excellence committee encourages all PTAs to apply for an award for the upcoming year. Please take a few minutes to explore the various awards available on the WSPTA website (https://www.wastatepta.org/programs/awards/excellence/).
