The Nominating Committee is a special committee that holds the key to a successful PTSA. It is responsible for presenting the best qualified candidates to serve as the elected officers who will lead Northshore Council PTSA in 2025-26.

![]() Community - Marco Garcia, NSD Community Partnership and Volunteer Coordinator, talked about the Art Docent program. Gus Reiber, a teacher at Bothell High School, explained his PTSA's "Fix One Thing" campaign to increase community engagement and pride in their campus. Finally, Dr. Srinivas Khedam, Assistant Director of the NSD Family Engagement and Resource Center, spoke about strategies for reaching out to the many families within our community. Here are PDF gun safety resources you can use in your communities from Becky!Council Educational Speakers and Community Events Grant Program: These grants are available to PTAs to obtain assistance in funding programs or events. This program is a great way for Northshore PTAs to collaborate with each other and with our Council to bring programming to the local community. The next grant cycle closes on Monday, December 09. Visit our website to learn more and submit your application! Attendees engaged in interactive activities throughout the event and had time to share their ideas. Council members, Holly Muenchow and Allison Torgesen, facilitated the sharing portion of our event. Council member, Rachel Fitzgerald, prepared an 80's themed "Why I PTA" slideshow that incorporated a bit of 80's Council history in the form of multiple-choice questions. Check it out here! For lunch, we had delicious box lunches catered by the Northshore Culinary Arts students at Bothell High School, featuring a turkey wrap, a salad, and various allergy friendly options. Many thanks to the PTA leaders, Northshore School District staff, and school board directors for attending. We hope you found the event inspiring and relevant to your work in our schools. We also want to thank our Council Co-VPs of Events, Melissa Bennett & Ashely Russell, for all of their hard work planning and organizing this amazing event and to the many volunteers who assisted with the slideshows, brainstorming ideas and on the day of the event. We want to continue to improve this annual event and make sure it's both accessible and meaningful to those who attend. We kindly request a few moments of your time to complete this survey. Over the weekend of October 26th and 27th, PTA member delegates from all over Washington convened on Seattle Pacific University to attend Washington State PTA's Legislative Assembly. These delegates included representation from many Northshore PTAs and Council! Delegates attended panels dedicated to learning more about the school budget crisis in Washington, hearing from school board directors and school superintendents. Delegates also discussed, debated, and voted on new issues and resolutions, including the adoption of WSPTA’s 2024-2026 Legislative Platform and Top Five Issues. At the close of the 2024 WSPTA Legislative Assembly, WSPTA President Angela Steck announced the results of voting for the 2024-2026 Top 5 legislative priorities. The remaining issues, "Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Climate Change" and "Increasing Educational Equity by Closing the Digital Divide" will be added to the "Also Supported" list of our short-term legislative priorities. Soon PTA Advocates will be meeting with their legislative representatives to encourage them to pass legislation in support of the PTAs priorities. Washington students at schools with an active PTA/PTSA may submit their theme ideas (with parent/guardian authorization) via the form on the WSPTA website. The Washington State PTA Programs Committee will select a top 5 to submit to National PTA. The top 5 will be announced in November after the submission deadline. The deadline is November 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM (PDT). Please review the past themes listed here, as repeat themes will not be considered. Please direct any questions to [email protected]. The submission form requires the entrant to create an account with SM Apply. The form itself should take about 5 minutes to complete.
