Welcome Letter from Council President 2024-2025

9/2/2024

The 2024-2025 school year is underway and Northshore Council PTSA leaders are looking forward to another amazing year of PTA!
We would like to start this year off by introducing you to Council’s President: Grace Jurado.

Over the past five years, we have seen Northshore PTAs continually adapt to unforeseen challenges, changing the ways we can fulfill our missions. Council leaders continue to be impressed and inspired with the way we have seen our local PTAs adapt, come up with new ideas and build stronger PTAs and communities. This year presents a new set of challenges as we all learn to master a new membership database and as our schools reel from budget cuts, creating more requests from PTAs. One thing we on Northshore Council know is that our local PTAs are masters at being #PTAFlexible and we will continue to strengthen our connections with our communities and with each other.

We also know that no one has all the answers, nor is there only one way to do things. For this reason, we want to let you know that Council is always here for you. Our mission as your Northshore PTSA Council is to support the work you do at the local PTA level. Our Board of Directors consists of PTA leaders with a wealth of experience at schools across the Northshore School District with a variety of PTA experience at the local, council, regional and state level. As such, we have many resources that can help you navigate the day-to-day PTA work, as well as the unexpected, including:
  • A Facebook group for Northshore PTA leaders as well as a group specific to Presidents to make connections and ask questions;
  • Office Hours & Roundtables so that we can share and learn from one another;
  • A newsletter, website, Facebook, and Instagram to help keep you informed;
  • Trainings so you can learn how to run your non-profit and become a stronger PTA leader;
  • Meetings to share information and connect you with district and community leaders;
  • Grants to support your PTA’s next educational speaker or community event; and, of course;
  • Personalized, one-on-one support - we’re just an email or zoom meeting away!

Our 2024-2025 Council team is ready to help you continue to do amazing things for our students, families, schools, and communities.

Wishing you a fantastic school year!
Grace Jurado

A little bit about Grace:
Grace Jurado has three kids: a freshman and senior in college and a junior at Inglemoor High School. She started her PTA journey with visions of a playground garbage can and a costume sharing program at her kids' elementary school and her PTA involvement has only grown ever since.  Grace has held positions in all of her schools' PTA boards and has also served on Northshore Council PTSA for a decade. She is excited to support PTAs as Council President this year. Council is Grace's favorite level of PTA service, and she has an amazing team of PTA leaders on the board to serve with this year.
