Washington State PTA (WSPTA) was founded in 1905 under the name Washington Congress of Parents and Teachers and is the largest volunteer organization in the state, boasting almost 135,00 members.  WSPTA's unwavering mission is for every child's potential to become a reality.  When you join PTA, you are strengthening PTA's collective voice in advocating for the health, safety and well-being of all children.

WSPTA Events

Washington State PTA (WSPTA) is an amazing resource to both Northshore Council and our 30+ PTAs.  WSPTA hosts a few events a year that every PTA should promote and attend, including:

  • Autumn Leadership Launch (A.L.L.) - August 26 & 27, 2022 - Online - A great way to create a strong start to the year with updated training and networking for new and returning leaders.
  • Legislative Assembly* - October 15-16 2022 - Bellevue Community College -Hybrid: In-person/Remote
  • Focus on Advocacy Week* - February 6-10, 2023 
  • Focus on Advocacy Day* - February 20, 2023
  • State PTA Convention  - Convention is an excellent opportunity to expand your leadership knowledge and skills, network with other PTA leaders and exercise your PTA's voice. This year the Annual Convention has been reimagined!
    • 2023 Remote Annual Business Meeting - April 29 & 30, 2023
      In this FREE, remote, Annual Business Meeting we will vote on the 2023-2025 Board of Directors and proposed bylaws changes. Any WSPTA member may attend this meeting, but only verified delegates will be able to vote in the board election and on the bylaws changes. Be sure to select the delegates that will represent your PTA in accordance with your Standing Rules. 
    • Spring Training Conference - Bellevue, WA - May 6 & 7, 2023
      On May 6 and 7, WSPTA will hold their first ever Spring Training Conference. This will be an in-person event at the Hilton Bellevue with a registration fee. Attendees will have the ability to learn, network, and celebrate the successes of the past year. Registration will open soon.

PTA Essay Contest -
This statewide essay contest explores the important and varied influencers in the lives and education of children – from the children’s perspective. Click here to see past essays, applications and rules.  Essays must be postmarked by February 15, 2023

PTA Reflections Program - The Reflections Program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.  This is typically a fall program. Learn more...
Scholarship Program - Each year, the Washington State PTA awards a limited number of scholarships to graduates from Washington State public high schools. Washington State PTA scholarships are awarded on the basis of 1) financial need 2) academic performance and 3) leadership & community service.  To apply, click here for details and the application due on February 15, 2023.

Game Development Competition -
The WSPTA//Game Development Competition is a Washington State PTA STEM-based program that supports student success for students in grades 9-12. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves, either individually or in teams, by creating a computer game. WA State PTA Awards of Excellence - Awards recognize and celebrate the hard work PTAs do for their community.  Application deadline for all awards is March 15th, 2023. Award recipients will be announced at WA State PTA Convention in May.  Learn more...
